Yarrowing It All Down: Balms for
Sensitivity and Environmental Stress

©1999 By Joyce Mason

Three varieties of Yarrow are available from FES--White, Pink, and Golden. White Yarrow is simply designated as Yarrow in the FES kit. These triplets from the composite family bloom as flat, tight clusters from tiny stems that radiate from the end of a single, tall stem.

All the yarrows have one property in common--protection of the aura or energy field. They are important to consider if you or your clients are "sensitives"--people who easily pick up others' energies, or those who have sharp reactions to loud music or other disturbances.

(WHITE) YARROW is for negative environmental influences, such as high levels of sound, the bustle of city life, or simply feeling vulnerable. It helps people--especially counselors and empaths--who take on the problems of others.

Yarrow types are very psychically open without good boundaries between themselves and the collective energy soup, whether it's the energy of others or environmental influences. (Their crown chakra may indeed be too open, and they are often not completely in their bodies.) You might hear them described in these terms: high-strung, hypersensitive, delicate, bleeding hearts, givers, or martyrs. On the upside, they are psychic and highly intuitive.

This Yarrow helps them to understand what energy, thoughts, and feelings are theirs versus those of others, enabling them to know on an intuitive and energetic level what doesn't belong to them. Taking the remedy, a sensitive person can just "be" with the thoughts, feelings, and hurts of others while maintaining a strong energetic sense of self, instead of taking in the pain and problems of others with their natural openness. It lends a protective shield that facilitates empathy while minimizing sympathetic responses that are draining.

Think of PINK YARROW as the Close Relationship Yarrow. The flowers are deep, hot pink--a heart chakra color--which hints at their distinction from White Yarrow.

Pink Yarrow is especially valuable for the often-unconscious psychic connections between people in heart-bonded relationships. Many intutive people have described these unseen connections as a form of cord between the aura or energy body of one party and the aura of the other. Cords act as energy conduits between people, vehicles for subtle manipulation and emotional addiction.

The "psychic sponge" soaks up the feelings and desires of the other party, often without recognizing them as belonging to someone else. Both parties in the transaction lack appropriate boundaries and literally lose themselves to love, whether romantic, familial, or friendship.

Pink Yarrow types are keenly sensitive to the opinions of those they love. For example, if a domineering dad feels his 40-year-old daughter is incompetent, that emotion can be transfused to her along the cords. She may take it into her self-image.

Above all, Pink Yarrow is useful for releasing cords at the second (sexual) and the fourth (heart) chakras. In the case of the love you can't get over or the affair you are hard-put to end, the difficulty may not be so much your lack of will power as the other's person's psychic cords plugged into your aura and transmitting signals. Once these cords are dissolved through Pink Yarrow or other essences, you may find you're simply not interested!

GOLDEN YARROW is for protected sensitivity while on stage or in the limelight. As all performers and speakers know, there is a strong interplay of energy between performer and audience. When the material calls for opening the heart to raw-nerve sensitivity or gut-level interaction, Golden Yarrow allows the performer to project sensitivity while being encompassed in a cushioned bubble. It allows the person in the spotlight to be completely open without fear of energy drain. Yellow is a solar plexus chakra color.

(Editors: Joyce's other article in this issue about the chakras and the effects of flowers' colors, will deepen your understanding of why the three Yarrows are different.)

YARROW SPECIAL FORMULA consists of White Yarrow in a solution of potentized sea salt. It was created in response to the nuclear disaster at Chernobyl in 1986, and it is helpful for all forms of environmental stress. It strengthens the etheric body to combat these negative effects.

Heaven forbid you should have to deal with exposure to literal fallout, but most of us are dealing with smaller doses of it "as we speak"--the low-level emissions that emanate from our computers. Other forms besides those from video-display terminals include x-rays, radiation therapy, and the radiation present at high altitudes, electromagnetic fields, and security equipment at airports.

Some Astrological Perspectives on Yarrow

From an astrological perspective, those who need Yarrow frequently are likely to have a strong influence of Neptune in their natal charts. In my opinion, Pink Yarrow represents the entire generation born between 1943-1956 with Neptune in the sign Libra. They may also have a dominance of water signs or houses or a focal Moon (many aspects to the Moon, or the Moon is located near one of the four angles in the chart). Any of these astrological signatures are reason to consider the Yarrows.

If the issue is more recent, people needing one of the Yarrows may be undergoing a Neptune transit or progression. It may even be harder for people to handle who are not used to this raw-nerve sensitivity, when it comes upon them suddenly.

Many spiritual leaders predict (and I agree) that the everyday use of our intuitive and psychic skills will become more and more commonplace as we enter the new millennium. I believe that Uranus and Neptune, now transiting the revolutionary sign of Aquarius, are harbingers of this change. Uranus represents the electrical body, while Neptune speaks to our astral bodies and psychic selves.

We can already see this tendency for intuitive communication in our Internet relationships. When your only experience of a person is mind-to-mind and keyboard-to-keyboard, you have to fill in a lot of gaps with your sixth sense.

It is amazing to see the deep friendships, romances, and even marriages being formed through this core level of communication, stripped of distracting externals. You definitely have to "read" the other person ... and those who don't know how to separate themselves from others are the most likely to be duped by the unscrupulous. On the other hand, Yarrow can help protect an individual who is developing this skill or intuitive skills in general.

Sensitivity is a double-edged sword. The Yarrows round off some of the sharp edges so we can be, help, share and do with a strong sense of self--and maintain our power and energy to continue doing so.
