AQUAMARINE, MY TRUE DREAM!

©1999 by Kathleen Douglas

Aquamarine seems to be an exquisite elixir for calming the nerves. When feeling confused or just stressed out to the max, Aquamarine comes to the rescue! It gives the feeling of putting a soothing blanket over stress. When you are feeling overwhelmed, it combines well with Elm flower essence.

Aquamarine can be used to ease just about any feeling of upset, including "butterflies in the stomach", irritability and nervousness, and even fear. It is similar to Chamomile flower essence in that it is calming. However, it also provides a protective measure as well. This feeling of putting a blanket over oneself can help one to feel safe, cozy, and taken care of in times of need.

Another noticeable trait of the gemstone Aquamarine is that is seems to increase the "yin", or receptive traits in the person who is holding or wearing it. It increases the feminine, sensitive and receptive qualities of an individual, whether the person is male or female. This makes it a wonderful elixir for anyone who wants to become a better listener. At the same time, it provides protection from whatever you have been receptive to, in case you became aware of harmful energies in your environment.

As this is a sensitive stone, the elixir works best when you "tune in" to it, and ask that you be receptive to its qualities. It would work nicely with Blackberry essence, in helping folks to enhance and improve their "vision" of what they want in life and to derive inspiration from this vision. It helps people to see and "take in" their surroundings, consequently becoming more observant.

When any part of the body or mind is overworked, Aquamarine provides a soothing and comforting feeling. Once when I was at a party, I had a bad tension headache. A friend handed me a beautiful aquamarine, and the soothing blue/green color and energy of the stone evoked a feeling of coziness, maybe even giddiness! I began to have fun and soon forgot I ever had a headache, feeling much more relaxed. It is definitely a stone of relaxation, so if you are extremely receptive to it, you may begin to feel sleepy.

Once fully awake again, Aquamarine also helps in interpreting dreams, those mysterious messengers from the inner world. In fact, this elixir improves all aspects of communication. As aquamarine is one of the colors associated with the throat chakra, it supports self expression, especially in explaining how one feels or thinks. It also helps one to calmly receive and maintain clarity on what one wants to express. It alleviates confusion because it helps slow and calm people down, so they become more aware of their thoughts.

Aquamarine seems to have a very friendly, soothing, and loving energy. It reminds me of the sea and of dolphins--gentle, joyous and communicative creatures. It also eases fear, such as fear of being in water, like when one is learning to swim.

It helps one to take things "one step at a time". Therefore, it is a great elixir for those who are hyperactive and "wired," or for those who are dreamy and "spaced out". As students of astrology might surmise, this is a wonderful elixir for people with prominent Neptune or Pisces traits, or with strong Gemini or Mercury influences in their natal chart.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR: Kathleen Douglas was introduced to astrology in Vienna, Austria, where she began studying at the age of 17. Since then she has studied with a variety of teachers, including a 2 year private mentorship program with Donna Cunningham.

She was also introduced to flower essences and vibrational healing through this program. In the past 7 years, she has been working extensively with flower, element, gem, and starlight essences. The other photos of aquamarines come from that source as well. The dolphin is from an exceptional set of decorative tiles at Tile Temptations. The astrological glyphs are by Ancitita.
