CLEAR LIGHT IN A FOGGY PASSAGE -- <br>
REMEDIES FOR NEPTUNE IN AQUARIUS

©2000 by Donna Cunningham, MSW

Though Neptune has been in Aquarius for a few years, the process of radical but chaotic change seems to have accelerated with the collective shift to a new millennium. Many of my clients, colleagues, and friends are reeling with the increased speed of personal and world transitions -- and I'm not that sure where I'm headed, myself!

For those who are more astrologically savvy, the following will pinpoint who is vulnerable. (Those who are novices, skip this paragraph.) Especially hard-hit this year are people with planets or chart angles in the third to sixth degrees of the fixed signs, Aquarius, Taurus, Leo, and Scorpio. (Among others, that would include people born between January 24th-28th, April 23rd-27th, July 26th-30th, and October 27th-30th.)

When you put keywords associated with Aquarius together with concepts for Neptune, you can understand their anxiety and confusion, as the combination suggests an era of rapid but diffuse change. Aquarius likes to continually break with the past and reinvent the still-serviceable wheel in the belief that newer must be better.

The state of mind associated with Neptune is hazy, elusive, often misguided and self-deceptive, blending vision with fantasy. Together, the pair suggests that many of our new directions can be ill-considered and even self-defeating, fueled by restlessness and the hunger for excitement.

On the other hand, Neptune also represents intuition and even divine guidance. Sometimes, then, we may be setting out on a fog-bound path, unable to see two feet -- or two days -- ahead of us, yet our direction may be as unerring as if there were a spotlight on our destination. How do we know whether we are being divine fools or just the plain old garden variety? Often, only time, patience -- a quality in short supply just now -- and spiritual practices like meditation will help us discern the answer.

When addressing a particular issue, I often find myself turning to one company's essences above all others -- not always the same company, mind you! In this instance, the collection by the Alaskan Flower Essence Project called to me. I found that the instinct was a sound one as I reviewed the descriptions in their most recent catalog and in an older version (published in 1992) of maker Steve M. Johnson's book, The Essence of Healing: A Guide to the Alaskan Flower, Gem, and Environmental Essences (published in 1996). The descriptions below of useful essences for this confusing era of vibrational shifts come from those sources.

BOG CANDLE works with cycles of initiation, death, and rebirth. It offers a level of support that enables us to enter into an experience of spiritual transformation and rebirth, and emerge from that experience with a sense of newfound wisdom rather than confusion, fear, shame or guilt.

PURPLE POPPY: According to their catalog, this essence helps one maintain balance during rapid phases of evolution, when one's entire vibrational makeup is undergoing transformation. It enables one to experience deep levels of integration and rest while allowing the transformative experience to continue. It also helps one open to and embody new information from the higher self that enhances life in the physical dimension.

CHIMING BELLS: This remedy is important for regeneration and renewal for those who have lost track of who they are in the course of all the changes and transformations of their lives. It is a "vibrational bridge that helps us connect with a real and tangible source of support that is available to us at all times, no matter how lost we feel--the loving energy of the Divine Mother."

YELLOW DRYAS is a powerful support for those who are breaking new ground in their lives, especially the pioneer type. When taking it, we maintain a clear perspective on individual and collective cycles of growth and expansion. It is helpful whenever we feel "isolated or confused about our identity within the larger scheme of things, as it enables us to draw that we need through the connective thread of our experience."

If you have planets in early degrees of the fixed signs or know people who are having strong transits from Neptune in Aquarius, you may find any or all of these remedies to be helpful and grounding in this confused, chaotic quickening of the new millennium.

If you don't know your chart that well, let your instincts be your guide. Chances are, if the descriptions above make you feel like maybe you aren't crazy after all, then Neptune is no doubt fogging your path. One or more of these essences may give you grounding and balance.
