CRIMSON ROSE ESSENCE--

©1999 by Deborah Bier, M. Ed.

Crimson Rose is one of WEE'S Pattern Breaking essences. It is a Rosa of unknown species. Use it if one of the following statements applies to you:

I am unfocused, spacey, in a fog.
I am stuck in the past--or focused on the future.
I wish I were more mindful of the here and now.

Being present in this moment is one of the purposes of all meditation. Experiencing the here and now does not leave much room to be immersed in regret for the past or to worry about the future. Living this moment fully requires that our consciousness rests here, within the span of the breath you receive right now...in the instant of this moment's heartbeat. This is mindfulness.

Being mindful permits us to respond to how things really are in this instant. This is important because at times the present reminds us so strongly of the past that we can't tell the difference between the two. If we make a habit of this, inflexible patterns informed only by the past become the limitations of tomorrow.

If we are giving yesterday's response to today's situation, we cannot truly meet our challenges to the best of our ability. We cannot be our most creative, spontaneous, or flexible. We cannot move harmoniously with the flow of time or the passing of the seasons. We also can't let bygones be bygones or approach the future with clear eyes. We stay anchored to past traumas, condemned to relive them over and over.

Being in the present does not disrespect or trivialize the past or the future. In fact, being truly mindful creates perspective and a set of priorities. It reduces uncertainty, anxiety, and stress, giving us freedom to pursue more creative goals.

Another WEE essence that readily compliments Red Rose is Marigold. Marigold's qualities are as follows, "I experience the joy of life in the physical body. Balanced, healthy pleasure and respect for our physical bodies, other living things, our planet, and all types of material goods is a necessity. The physical world is as sacred a part of Creation as any other realm."
