The last months of pregnancy and the first months following delivery are
generally an exhausting and challenging time. Hopefully, they are also
filled with anticipation, joy and the precious bonding between mother and
child.
The bonding connection (often unconscious) begins before conception,
becomes a more conscious connection in utero, and transitions to greater
awareness following birth. Essences are very useful to help the bonding,
awareness and adjustment process of being a parent. They are safe to use,
even when nursing. (Unless otherwise mentioned, all essences below are made by Bach.)
Becoming a parent can be a time to powerfully build one's intuitive skills.
On a spiritual level, souls are being united or re-united, and awareness of
their karmic connection can be enhanced with the use of FES' Forget-Me-Not.
It helps the parent realize the agreement with the incoming spirit and they can better be
able to be in touch with one another spiritually.
Two other FES essences enhance one's ability to listen to the child's needs.
Star Tulip develops one's receptivity and inner female, so it is an
excellent choice during pregnancy for creating that inner womb and ability
to listen for inner guidance. Yellow Star Tulip develops one's empathic
ability - to be able to know what the baby is feeling and how best to
respond to those feelings. A great choice both before and after birth.
Cerato helps you trust yourself, so that you follow your own choices
rather than seeking everyone else's advice. And everyone, whether you seek
them out or not, has advice for you when you are having a child. Mariposa
Lily (FES) is a fantastic nurturing essence. It teaches you to have
confidence as a mother, bond with your child and nurture yourself as well.
It can be taken throughout pregnancy and following birth.
Exhaustion following pregnancy and birth can interfere with the joy of
the new life that has been brought into the world. These Bach essences
address various aspects of exhaustion:
- Olive addresses the sheer physical and mental fatigue following delivery and
lack of sleep due to nighttime feedings or fussiness.
-
Elm is for feeling overwhelmed by the responsibility for all the diapers,
bottles, decisions, caregiving, etc.
- Hornbeam
is for when you don't have any interest or energy to do what you know needs to be done, like taking a bath or making a meal.
- Oak is for knowing when to stop and rest for the mom who pushes herself
past the point of exhaustion.
- White Chestnut is for repetitive worrying and racing thoughts that can
plague you, especially when you lay down to sleep.
The transition from being pregnant to having your child at home with you
creates many changes in your physical body, your mental state, and previous
habits or schedules. The following essences can make sharing your life with
your new baby easier, less stressful and more fun.
- Walnut helps with transitions, adjustments in schedules and
acceptance of new situations. Great sprayed around the house.
- Chamomile (FES) is very calming and especially helpful used before nursing or
diaper changing. A few drops in the bathwater is very soothing.
- Gorse has long been used for post partum depression and the
hopelessness that can overwhelm even the most stable of women following the
birth of a child.
- Five Flower (Healing Herbs) or Rescue Remedy are a must-have for the frequent
challenges as one grows into motherhood, be it with the first or fourth
child. These combination essences work quickly to create a state of inner
balance that allows you to manage life with more grace.
