Four of the Whole Energy Essences are pointedly devoted to issues of gender: Mulberry Fruit (Female Energy), Iris (Male Energy from the Siberian Iris), Wild Strawberry Fruit and Flower (Male and Female Balance), and the combo Gender Harmony. How can we best understand when to use each one of them? How does their use extend beyond what we may typically consider to be "gender" issues?
It seems obvious that Mulberry Fruit is for women and Iris for men, but that's not necessarily the case. We can get a better understanding of their use if we examine them more deeply. We all contain both male and female energies, or as some traditions call it, yin and yang. An appropriate balance between the two is necessary for health. In some situations, it can be entirely appropriate for men to use Mulberry and women to use Iris.
While women may be in better harmony with themselves if they use Mulberry, Iris can also lend them a stronger relationship to their own yang energies. Therefore, their yin qualities may end up being more at ease and in balance. And using Iris can also help them feel more at peace with the men in their lives.
Wild Strawberry Fruit and Flower (WSFF) (see here for a profile of this essence) emphasizes and affirms the common ground seeming opposites occupy -- often unknowingly. Learning that opposites may have more in common than in conflict is a powerful path to peace. The same principal applies to harmony between individuals, within the family, and between disagreeing groups, including warring nations.
Gender Harmony also helps mediate conflicts between seeming opposites, but in a different way than WSFF. Gender Harmony focuses on showing how opposites complement and strengthen one another. The combination helps us understand that differences bring a beneficial richness and complexity, where we once might have seen them as hopelessly conflicting.
If one aspect is overwhelming its complement, WSFF can help tone down the dominator. However, if you wish to strengthen and accentuate the weaker quality, Gender Harmony may be a better choice.
