Recently, I had a new addition to the household: an adult female boxer/pit
bull. Formerly, I just had three cats. The dog had been in a car accident,
so I was helping her out by letting her stay at the house, and
rehabilitating her.

The cats were not impressed. In fact, Tabitha, the Siamese, refused to come
inside the house for almost three weeks. She would only eat and sleep
outside, because she is territorial, and did not like the smell of the dog.
Of course, she was also afraid. The dog was not able to walk well for the
first week, so there was no chasing going on. But the cats were upset
anyway, and they were not eating well. Tabitha came down with a bad urinary
tract infection.
So, all was not well at the Douglas household! How could I get these animals
to adapt, if not actually like each other? They were all taking various
flower remedies, to help them with their personal maladies, and the dog was
improving fast. But they were still not getting along with each other.

I found Water Violet to be of incredible assistance! Water Violet is very
helpful for antisocial tendencies. It is a great remedy for those who are
shy or aloof, or who have trouble mingling in social situations. I wish I
had thought of it before three weeks had gone by, but I was too busy trying
to get the animals well from their illnesses. I started putting drops of
Water Violet in their drinking water. For Tabitha, since she was afraid of
the dog as well as having territorial issues -- Siamese can be very
territorial-- I also gave her Aspen, Mimulus, and Prickly Pear, by dropper.
Amazing! Within four or five days, they were all getting along fine. Tabitha
began coming inside the house to eat with the rest of the animals almost
immediately. The cats are no longer apprehensive of the dog, and the dog
hardly ever chases them! And they all sleep together on the same bed!
(unfortunately, that is often mine). The dog --who has only three legs-- I
named "Zinnia", after the flower. Zinnia essence can be helpful in
maintaining a sense of humor, and even bringing joyfulness through life's
trials and tribulations. Zinnia's favorite pastime is chasing hummingbirds.
She is determined to catch one. We call her "the eternal optimist".
