West Australian Smoke Bush, made by Living Essences of Australia, is a remedy I have
come to know and rely on over the years. It is extremely helpful for people who are stuck
in a job--or other demanding situation--which they no longer want but which they see no
way to leave, due to economic necessity, a sense of responsibility, or other binding
constraint.
The following are just three of many people I have given WA Smoke Bush to
over the years. The pattern this essence evoked with each of them is that of a shift in
attitudes in which the person finds new ways to continue doing the work they found
stifling and at the same time begins taking concrete steps to develop a new and more
satisfying work situation.
CASE 1: An astrological colleague, having reached the 20-year mark in her field, was
very badly burned out on consultations. She felt increasingly drained and resentful at
having to do them, yet needed to earn at least part of her living that way. She felt really
trapped in this pattern and yearned to stop doing sessions altogether.
She began taking
WA Smoke Bush as a "project" during a one-month trip to Europe. She reasoned that
having a month off from readings and taking the essence might change the pattern. She
had taken off as much as two months at a time in the preceding two years, with no effect,
so rest alone was not making a dent in the problem.
When she returned from the trip, she was teaching two classes and offered a discount to
her students. She was besieged with consultations, yet did them virtually without
stress. Finally, she understood that she felt better about doing charts for students
because she had a relationship with them. It was far more stressful to work with complete
strangers, not knowing what to expect from them. It was painful, also, to develop such
deep intimacy during the session and never see the client again.
As she continued to take WA Smoke Bush, she began teaching more
and working hard at developing materials for two mail order businesses that she hoped
would replace some of the charts. She also began to develop a fascinating form of healing
that promised to become a new career.
CASE 2: A long-time city employee in her late fifties was very unhappy with the civil
service position she had held for about a year and a half. Though the work itself was fine,
her relationship with a very difficult supervisor made her life miserable. She was counting
the days until she could retire on her city pension. Every day she struggled with how much
she hated going to work, and she was close to disciplinary action because she would take
off Mondays and Fridays as sick days, something the personnel department monitored very closely. She had
ongoing health concerns, but they always seemed unbearable on Monday.
Given WA Smoke Bush in two successive mixtures, she no longer fretted each
morning about the job, nor did she take off Mondays or Fridays as sick days. Instead,
she found satisfying new projects on the job, including taking the initiative in developing
training units. She also found deep satisfaction and fascination in mastering the
department's new computer, learning the various programs and skills slowly and
tentatively. The relationship with her supervisor improved over time, as some of her own
attitudes and expectations shifted.
CASE 3: A woman in her fifties was forced to return to work after several years at home
caring for an elderly parent. She deeply resented working away from home, especially as
her husband, who was on a disability pension, got to stay home and pursue creative
endeavors. She became extremely irritable, continually losing her temper at other drivers
on her commute. Conflict arose frequently in her closest relationships and on the various
temp jobs she was assigned.
She responded very quickly to a remedy mixture in which
WA Smoke Bush was the key ingredient. She came up with the idea of a home business
doing personal services, which she felt enthusiastic about and began actively planning
toward while still working at temp jobs.

As effective as this remedy is for the person stuck in a dead end job, you may be
surprised to know that this application is not part of the remedy description given by
Living Essences. (It was at their suggestion, however, that I experimented with it for this
purpose.) The remedy's main property is to help reintegrate mind/body connections and
parts of the energy body that become separate after physical or mental stress such as
surgery, fainting, or jet lag when long distances are covered.
The makers, Va'sudeva and Kadambii Barnau, felt that the reason WA Smoke Bush
works with these job problems is that when people heartily do not wish to be in a
situation, they distance themselves mentally from the physical body that is performing the
act and space out. As such, it has applications to other situations we feel stuck in but see
no way out of, such as care of a bed-ridden elderly relative. I find it most effective--and
dramatic--when taken as a single remedy.
